Right wing Alex Gacek and defenseman Eric Sweetman of the Youngstown Phantoms have been named USHL offensive and defensive players of the week respectively.

Gacek won the offensive award for the first time and is the eighth different member of the Phantoms to do so this season.

This is Sweetman’s second defensive award of the season and third time two Phantoms have been recognized in the same week.

Gacek scored two goals and three assists in the Phantoms’ two wins over Team USA last weekend. The native of Dracut, Mass., native scored a goal on Friday night and added another goal and three assists on Saturday.

He has 13 goals and 14 assists in 47 games for the Phantoms this season, his second in the USHL.

Sweetman had a goal and an assist along with a plus-5 rating in the two victories, with both points coming on Saturday.

Sweetman has three goals and seven assists this season.
