Pa. state trooper fatally shoots motorist on Pa. Turnpike
CRYSTAL SPRING, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvania State Police say a trooper fatally shot a motorist who attacked him after a traffic accident on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
Investigators say two motorists were already arguing when the trooper arrived at the scene of a collision in the eastbound lanes in Brush Creek Township, Fulton County, which was reported at 8:55 p.m. Tuesday.
Police say one of the motorists approached the trooper with a pair of aggressive dogs then hit him repeatedly with a flashlight. That’s when the trooper fired, killing the driver.
Authorities said the slain motorist was 46 years old, but had not identified him or the trooper.
The trooper was flown to Altoona Hospital for treatment of his injuries. His condition was not immediately available this morning.
