Ga. man returned to bank after trying to rob it, police say
CHAMBLEE, Ga.
Authorities say a man has been arrested after returning back to the suburban Atlanta bank he tried to rob in order to withdraw money for his cab fare home.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that 39-year-old Trevor Gladston Jr. was charged with attempted armed robbery.
Chamblee police say Gladston is accused of giving a bank teller a note demanding cash recently.
Police say he left without money when the teller fled, protected by bullet-resistant glass. Authorities say he fled in a taxi but the driver flagged down a transit police officer after being concerned that her passenger would leave without paying.
Police say that officer didn’t know about the robbery attempt and talked Gladston into returning to the bank to withdraw money for the cab ride. He later was arrested.
Wanted Pa. man is arrested after lobster theft, cops say
ALLENTOWN, Pa.
A wanted Pennsylvania man got himself pinched after police say he stole lobsters from a supermarket, then stole a car.
Allentown police say 46-year-old Charles Shumanis dragged his 79-year-old carjacking victim about 50 feet when he swiped the man’s car last week.
Investigators say Shumanis dropped the lobsters in the parking lot while being chased by the store’s manager then pushed a man out of his car and took off. Police say Shumanis soon crashed and was taken into custody.
Shumanis is being held on $100,000 bail on charges including robbery and aggravated assault. Authorities say he was wanted for walking away from a work-release program.
Police say a store guard recognized Shumanis as having previously stolen lobsters.
Officials say the carjacking victim was treated for minor injuries.
Police: Pa. man stole coat from maternity ward for girlfriend
NEW CASTLE, Pa.
Police say a western Pennsylvania man stole a woman’s coat from a hospital maternity ward because he thought it was nice and wanted to give it to his girlfriend.
Online court records don’t list an attorney for 28-year-old Ryan Bonace, of New Castle, who is being mailed a court summons to face charges of theft and receiving stolen property.
The New Castle News reports a woman reported the coat stolen late Thursday afternoon at Jameson Hospital, which is also in New Castle.
Police say they determined Bonace stole the coat and say he confessed he wanted it for his girlfriend.
