Police say a school-bus driver in Ohio has been charged after she held down the arms of a 9-year-old boy and told a girl to hit him.

A police report released Monday says 58-year-old Brenda Abdul-Mateen was charged with contributing to a child’s delinquency or unruliness on a Columbus City Schools bus in January.

The report says she held the boy’s hands and told another student to hit him.

The Columbus Dispatch reports the district was moving toward firing the driver when she resigned in February. A district spokesman tells the newspaper the boy wasn’t injured seriously and attended school the next day. The girl wasn’t disciplined.

He says it appears Abdul-Mateen thought the boy was picking on the girl.

A phone listing for Abdul-Mateen could not be found.
