Valerie Bornhorst of Minster, Ohio, became the bride of Dustin Gardner of Boardman during an afternoon ceremony Aug. 27, 2011, at St. Augustine Catholic Church.

The bride’s godfather, Deacon Greg Bornhorst, officiated for the daughter of Mark and Susan Bornhorst of Minster and the son of John and Margaret Gardner of Boardman.

After the ceremony the couple received congratulations at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Minster.

The bride wore a strapless ivory ball gown styled with a dropped waist and sweetheart neckline. It featured a beaded waistband and chapel train. A beaded chapel-length veil completed her ensemble.

Bridal attendants were attired in deep purple knee-length dresses. Maria Mendes, the bride’s sister, was the matron of honor and bridesmaids were Mandy Bornhorst, the bride’s sister-in-law; Kerrie Frease, the groom’s sister; and Allison Brown, Renee Morsey, Kristen Shenk, Marta Fabrykowski, Elizabeth Radtke and Robin Baker. The flower girl was Brynn Bornhorst, the bride’s niece.

Joshua Gardner performed the duties of best man for his brother. Groomsmen were Jason Frease, the groom’s brother-in-law; Troy Bornhorst, the bride’s brother; Joel Mendes, the bride’s brother-in-law; Dave Peters, the groom’s cousin; and Jeremy Dreslinski, Ross Jensen, Curtis Wuestefeld and Bryce Brown. Serving as ushers were Raymond Peters and Andrew Peters, both cousins of the groom; and Scott Pycraft and Matt Breslow.

The couple are graduates of Ohio State University College of Optometry and hold doctorate degrees in optometry. The bride, who is retaining her maiden name, is an optometrist with Vision Professionals in Columbus. The groom holds an auxiliary faculty position in the OSU College of Optometry.

After a honeymoon in Aruba, the couple are making their home in Columbus.
