Ursuline Center sets book-club offerings

CANFIELD

The Ursuline Center Book Club is reaching out to anyone interested in reading and sharing good books to join in upcoming discussions.

The group gathers in the meeting room of Prato Hall at the Ursuline Center, 4280 Shields Road.

At 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, the club will talk about “There’s No Place Like Here” by Cecelia Ahern. The author delivers the fantasy-mystery story of Sandy Shortt, whose specialty is finding missing people. When she herself goes missing, she finds herself in the place where all people disappear to. She then must find the secret to getting back home.

The club will discuss “The Kitchen House” by Kathleen Grissom at 6:30 p.m. April 17. The story’s focus is a 7-year-old Irish girl who becomes an indentured servant in 1790s United States. Truths are uncovered and lives are at risk in the novel, which explores love and loyalty.

The books are available at the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County. There’s no charge to participate, but freewill offerings are accepted. Preregistration is appreciated. For information, call Eileen Novotny, Ursuline associate, at 330-533-3831 or the center at 330-799-4941.

The group will meet at 6 p.m. March 12 to discuss “The Atomic Bazaar: Rise of the Nuclear Poor” by William Langewiesche.
