Submit info for Holy Week, Easter

The Vindicator will publish a listing of area services that are open to the public in observance of Palm Sunday, April 1; Holy Thursday, April 5; Good Friday, April 6; Holy Saturday, April 7; and Easter, April 8.

Deadline to submit information is 5 p.m. March 28. Publication will be March 31.

Information should include the denomination and name of the church, address, city or suburb, the day, time, type of service, your name and a phone number for verification.

Greater East Ohio Area Chapter of Alzheimer’s Association will offer “Ministering to the Spiritual Needs in the World of Dementia” from 8 to 11:45 a.m. March 20 at Greenford Christian Church, 11767 Lisbon Road. The program is free.

Lenten mission

YOUNGSTOWN

The theme of a Lenten mission planned this weekend and March 18 and 25 at St. Brendan Church, 2800 Oakwood Ave., focuses on those in the Mahoning Valley who serve the community.

For the events, music will start at 5 p.m. followed by refreshments at 5:45, speaker at 6:30 and prayer at 7 p.m. Admission is free.

Sunday’s program will feature the Salem Youth Chorus. Sister Therese Ann Rich will speak on St. Angela Merici, whose advocacy for women and children continues through the Ursuline Sisters, the order she founded in 1535.

March 18 will feature the John Reese Trio and presentation by Humility of Mary Sister Ann McManamon about Dorothy Day, a candidate for canonization and inspiration for the Dorothy Day House of Hospitality.

March 25 will be soprano Allyson Pollice and talk by the Rev. Gregory Maturi of St. Dominic Church on St. Dominic.

Prayer team

Larry and Betty Stephens will serve as team leaders of the City Prayer Team of Youngstown. Prayer and discussion is planned at 10 a.m. today in Fifth Avenue Community Church, 1361 Fifth Ave.

Calendar tea

Ebenezer Life Center Church of God In Christ, 566 W. Indianola Ave., will host its 56th annual free calendar tea at 5 p.m. Sunday. The theme is “The Just Shall Live By His Faith.”

Guest speaker will be Pamela Hennings of Zion Dominion Global Ministries, Amherst, N.Y.

Jim Erb to speak

The Rev. Jim Erb, founder and president of Antioch International Ministries, will speak at 6 p.m. Sunday at Second Chance Community Outreach Ministry, 1747 S. Raccoon Road, Suite 1. Erb, a native of West Middlesex, Pa., is a graduate of Asbury Theological Seminary. He has been in ministry for some 40 years.
