Cee Lo Green to launch long-term Vegas show

LAS VEGAS

The singer-songwriter behind the Grammy-winning 2010 single “Forget You” and the 2006 hit “Crazy” is settling down — at least for a few months — in a Las Vegas residency.

Cee Lo Green says his semi-permanent show, “Loberace,” will launch Aug. 29 at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip, and run at least through the end of the year.

“The production will combine Cee Lo’s flamboyant sense of style and over-the-top creativity,” producers said in a statement, adding that the show “will be as inspired and visually alive as Cee Lo Green.”

Organizers say the show will include a musical journey through time, with tributes to Prince and the Rolling Stones. “Mind-twisting magic and sexified showgirls” also are on tap.

The 37-year-old Green, known for his soulful voice and extravagant costumes, is a coach on the NBC show “The Voice.” His break came in the mid-1990s in the southern rap scene, but has evolved to include Gnarls Barkley, a collaboration between him and DJ-producer Danger Mouse, and his 2010 solo album “The Lady Killer.”

The 28 shows through the end of December are scheduled for late nights, and some follow Planet Hollywood’s “Peepshow” production in the 1,400-seat theater.

Celebrity burglary suspect takes deal

LOS ANGELES

A man accused of leading a series of burglaries at the Hollywood Hills homes of celebrities pleaded no contest Friday to stealing from Lindsay Lohan and reality star Audrina Patridge.

Nicholas Frank Prugo spoke softly as he entered the pleas under a deal that includes two years in state prison and requires him to testify against three remaining defendants charged with breaking into the home of Paris Hilton and Lohan.

Prugo and others were accused of break-ins that netted more than $3 million in jewelry, high-end clothes, art and other goods. Most of the property has never been recovered.

Prugo, 21, was initially charged with burglarizing the homes of Hilton, Orlando Bloom and Rachel Bilson, but those counts were dropped in exchange for his plea. He will be responsible for restitution awards stemming from the break-ins, prosecutor Christine Kee said.

Memorials to honor the late Davy Jones

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.

The heart attack that killed Monkees singer Davy Jones came while the singer was in his stable surrounded by his beloved horses.

The star’s spokeswoman, Helen Kensick, offered the detail Friday, two days after Jones died in Florida.

She says Jones spent his final days surrounded by family and riding horses before his sudden death.

A funeral in Florida will be private. Kensick says public services to honor Jones will be held in New York and in England, though the details have not been finalized.

Jones rocketed to stardom in the 1960s as a member of The Monkees. Though their television show lasted just two years and the group ultimately broke up, they have endured with such chart-topping hits as “I’m a Believer” and “Daydream Believer.”

Jones was 66.
