The Lakeview Local School District will accept applications for open enrollment for the 2012-13 school year from 8 to 11:30 a.m. and from 12:30 to 3 p.m. through March 30.
Applications may be picked up by the parent or guardian only in the superintendent’s office, 300 Hillman Drive. Applications are not being accepted for kindergarten, grades fourth, seventh and eighth. Information can be found at www.lakeviewlocal.org.
St. Patrick opens K-8 registration

St. Patrick School is accepting kindergarten through eighth-grade registration for the 2012-13 school year at the school office, 38 E. Water St. Financial aid applications are also available. The school accepts the Ohio Ed Choice Scholarships, or vouchers, and offers busing from Brookfield, Hubbard, Liberty and Youngstown. There is also a before- and after-school child-care program that operates from 7 a.m. through 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. McDonald Schools are accepting applications for kindergarten open enrollment from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, from 5 to 7 p.m. March 29 and from 9 a.m. to noon April 14 at Roosevelt Elementary School. Children who are 5 years old on or before Aug. 1 are eligible. Applicants must bring the child’s original birth certificate, Social Security card, proof of residence and the child’s shot records. Anyone missing any of the required items should attend the registration and allow school employees to assist.

MIAMI UNIVERSITY, Oxford, Ohio
Paul Garchar of Struthers and John Stefanski of Canfield, both students at Miami, attended the Ohio Township Association annual conference in Columbus. They were among 21 Miami students to attend the conference. Students who attended the conference were recognized during a general session by OTA president Greg Hanahan. They also met in private briefings with a number of public officials including Mike Dittoe, director of communications and policy adviser to Speaker William G. Batchelder of the Ohio House of Representatives; Rep. Tim Derickson (Ohio 53rd District); and J. Christopher Woolard, research and evaluation manager at the Ohio Department of Education.
UNIVERSITY OF MOUNT UNION, Alliance
Rebecca Hartz of Austintown, a junior early childhood major, was recently elected president of Alpha Phi Omega, a national co-educational service fraternity. Hartz, the daughter of Gregory and Teresita Hartz and an Ursuline High School graduate, previously was service chairwoman of the organization, the largest campus organization at Mount Union. She attended the regional conference in Lexington, Ky., and a sectional conference at Miami University, Oxford. As part of the fraternity’s outreach, Hartz and 11 other students are traveling to Give Kids the World Village in central Florida during spring break to provide volunteer service to children with life-threaten- ing illnesses.
