POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Liberty, Girard and Hubbard:
LIBERTY
Feb. 21
Possible theft: A wallet was lost or stolen from a room at a Belmont Avenue motel.
Assaults: While responding to a disturbance in the 2800 block of Belmar Avenue, authorities charged Casey L. Mirkin, 28, of 2821 Belmar, and Todd M. Leskovec, 30, of 1628 Keefer Road, Girard, with aggravated assault and simple assault. Leskovic alleged Mirkin had struck his face multiple times; Mirkin, who police said also kicked an officer, alleged he pushed and tossed her around. Leskovic also was charged with resisting arrest when, police said, he refused to cooperate.
Feb. 22
Identity fraud: A Logan Arms Drive woman discovered five unauthorized purchases and withdrawals from her checking account. The loss came to $823.
Breaking and entering: Someone forcibly entered a Craig Lane trailer through the front door before removing a water tank and copper piping. Also, property was missing from a nearby shed.
Theft: A microwave oven and a refrigerator were taken from a residence in the 400 block of Richards Drive.
Assault: A student reported another girl punched the accuser above her right eye at Liberty High School, 1 Leopard Way. The teen had two lumps in the affected area.
Identity fraud: A Logangate Road man noticed 11 fraudulent debits to his card totaling $478.
Feb. 23
Arrest: The U.S. Marshals Northeast Ohio Fugitive Task Force arrested 38-year-old Herbert Cross, Motor Inn Drive, Liberty, who was wanted on charges of aggravated robbery and domestic violence.
Criminal damaging/trespassing: Someone damaged a door-lock mechanism before entering a vacant residence in the 30 block of Tuttle Lane, though nothing appeared to have been stolen.
Arrest: A suspicious vehicle near Lamplighter Drive caught the attention of police, who took into custody 20-year-old Torrance S. Mabry, 2971 Myron Ave., Liberty. Mabry was wanted on a probation-violation charge.
Identity fraud: A Goist Lane woman learned someone used her personal information to file a fraudulent tax return.
Arrest: Police picked up David L. Anderson, 48, of 715 Park Ave., Youngstown, who was accused of failing to appear in court.
Feb. 24
Theft: A 30-day temporary tag was stolen off a vehicle on Colonial Drive.
Arrest: The Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office handed Porsha McArthur, 25, to Liberty police. McArthur, of 2620 Eddie St., Youngstown, was wanted on a warrant from the Girard Municipal Court accusing her of failing to comply with a court order.
Theft: A woman noticed her change- purse missing after having shopped in the Liberty Plaza.
Feb. 25
Theft: Police issued a summons against 57-year-old Deborah Elliott, 478 Fairgreen Ave., Youngstown, after a sheet cake was stolen from Giant Eagle, 4700 Belmont Ave.
Feb. 26
Weapon/drugs: Authorities responded to Mansell Drive regarding a threatening text message, then pulled over a vehicle containing several juveniles, all of whom were released to the custody of family members. Found in the car was a loaded .380-caliber semiautomatic handgun, two bags of suspected marijuana and a digital scale, a report showed.
Arrest: Youngstown police handed 52-year-old James E. Ritter, 25 Market St., Youngstown, to township authorities. Ritter was accused of failing to appear in court to face charges of theft and criminal damaging.
GIRARD
Feb. 21
Breaking and entering: Someone tossed a cinder block through the main-door window and entered Coventry Auto Sales Inc., 513 N. State St. Desk drawers were open and an office had been ransacked.
Aggravated menacing: A South Davis Street woman reported another woman threatened to shoot the accuser in the head.
Theft: A woman in the 200 block of South Davis Street discovered a package containing one pair each of shoes and sandals was missing from her porch.
Aggravated menacing: A pregnant South Davis Street woman said another woman threatened to shoot the accuser and her unborn child.
Feb. 22
Menacing: An East Howard Street woman said two brothers have been making ongoing threats toward her, and that one of the men was at the end of her driveway when she returned.
Theft: A wallet was missing from a car in the 50 block of Navajo Drive.
Drug paraphernalia: A traffic stop on West Prospect Street led to a charge against Eric N. Locke, 217 W. Prospect St., after police said he admitted having a suspected marijuana pipe in his pocket.
Feb. 23
Menacing: A woman told police her mother, of Hazel Street, received several days’ worth of calls from a man claiming she owed on past-due debts and trying to obtain her Social Security number.
Criminal damaging: Someone rode a vehicle, possibly an all-terrain vehicle, through and damaged two yards in the 800 block of Lawrence Avenue.
Feb. 24
Harassment: A Patricia Drive woman reported getting a series of unwanted and threatening calls and text messages.
Fraud: A Lawrence Avenue man told officers a man in his late 20s claiming to represent The Vindicator asked for donations to support a leadership program. The man gave no money and learned that the newspaper never sponsored such a program.
Feb. 25
Criminal mischief: An Elruth Court woman noticed two vehicle windows broken. The estimate was $1,000.
Identity fraud: A Cherokee Drive man lost $500 after someone had used his debit-card information online without authorization.
Feb. 26
Possible breaking and entering: Police received a report of a break-in at a South State Street building and that a man stole chewing tobacco and beverages.
Aggravated menacing: An East Broadway Avenue man said his son-in-law threatened to kill him.
HUBBARD
Feb. 20
Breaking and entering: Police arrested 28-year-old Thomas A. Anderson, 701 Jones St., Hubbard, on a warrant accusing him of breaking and entering.
Breaking and entering: Chase Rosile, 24, of 534 Dorchester Drive, Hubbard, was charged with the crime.
Feb. 21
Misuse of a credit card: A Jacobs Road resident reported a credit card was used without consent.
Attempted theft: Someone in the 6000 block of Lincoln Avenue tried to steal property.
Feb. 22
Harassment: A resident in the 5000 block of Mount Everett Road reported having been harassed via phone.
Arrest: Police picked up 33-year-old Danielle Johnson, 54 W. Liberty St., Girard, who was accused of failing to appear for a violation-of-probation hearing.
Feb. 23
Burglary: Took place at a Stoneybrook Drive home.
Drugs: John Jarman, 48, of 2939 Edgar Ave., Youngstown, faced two counts of drug trafficking and one of drug possession.
Feb. 24
Arrest: Dale M. Harrison, 44, of 3332 Bellwick Road, Hubbard, was taken into custody on charges of robbery and criminal trespassing. Harrison also was wanted on warrants.
Arrest: Authorities picked up 41-year-old Michael J. Codian of Boaz, Ala. Codian was wanted on a telecommunications-harassment warrant.
