AUSTINTOWN

Second Chance Community Outreach Ministry, 1747 S. Raccoon Road, Suite 1, has begun its spring/summer 2012 sponsorship program by asking area churches, businesses, groups, organizations and individuals to help with community-outreach efforts through various sponsorship opportunities.

Sponsors will be included on banners, fliers, activity programs, posters and other items displayed and distributed throughout the community.

Second Chance is a nonprofit organization that provides regular, free, hot meals to the community on site and through a residence-to-residence delivery effort. It also offers a regular food-distribution and food-pantry program and clothing cupboard.

The ministry typically serves about 200 hot meals to community members monthly and delivers about 60 meals to residents.

The ministry has the opportunity to see any money and canned-food items it raises or collects through April 30 matched, dollar-for-dollar, by a national nonprofit group that specifically assists efforts that provide food and meals to the needy.

The ministry also runs a coffee house at 6 p.m. Saturdays featuring local artists. Snacks or light meals are provided.

Dave Fidram, executive director, said donations and contributions also may be made to Second Chance at any Huntington Bank, at the ministry office or by contacting ministry representatives directly. Food and clothing may be dropped off at the ministry during event times or by appointment.
