Fingerling fish sale set for late April

Mahoning Soil and Water Conservation District, 850 Industrial Road, will sell fingerling-size fish for stocking ponds and lakes.

Fish available are: 100 fathead minnows for $6; 9- to 12-inch White Amur for $14 each; 2- to 3-inch bass, 2- to 4-inch bluegill and 2-to 4-inch yellow perch for 80 cents each; 4- to 5-inch channel cat, 2- to 4-inch hybrid bluegill and 2- to 4-inch shell crackers for 85 cents each.

Deadline to order is April 20. Pickup will be from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. April 26 at the Canfield Fairgrounds Coliseum 8 in the junior fair. Customers should bring lined containers filled with their own pond/lake water. Five to 10 gallons of water per 100 fish are required. The White Amur must be placed in a container with a lid or liner large enough to be tied at the top; only two White Amur to each 5 gallons of water. Restrictions apply to out-of-state residents.

Other conservation materials available for sale include pond-safety kits, birdseed, birdhouses and birdfeeders.
