Here's how local wrestlers fared in the first round on Friday at the state championships:

Division I

Nick Mancini (106) of Boardman dec. Josh Wimer of Grove City Central Crossin 5-4

Nico Graziani (160) of Boardman major dec. Ethan Bond of Lancaster 11-1.

Division II

Josh Henderson (106) of Beaver Local lost to Brad Taton of Mentor Lake Catholic 6-3, then lost to Matt Pool of Toledo Central Catholic, 10-6, and was eliminated.

Korey Frost (113) of Canfield lost by pin to Eli Seipel of St. Paris Graham in 3:32, then lost to Joey Miller of Carrollton, 9-4, and was eliminated.

Gabe Stark (138) of Howland won by technical fall over Joey Patterson of Dresden Tri-Valley 16-0.

Robby Klose (145) of Howland dec. Nick Weininger of Dover 3-2.

Connor Sharp (285) of West Branch pinned B.J. Hall of Circleville Logan Elm in 2:13.

Division III

Max Brooke (160) of South Range was pinned by Austin Ripke of Archbold in 3:10. He returned in the consolation round and decisioned Logan Looser of Delphos St. John's 5-2.
