BOARDMAN

Several people accused in separate shoplifting cases — including the theft of more than $2,000 worth of make-up — at the Southern Park Mall Tuesday will appear in Mahoning Area Court today.

Kimberly Slipski, 35, of Berlin Center, was charged with theft and drug paraphernalia and Tina Fizet, 35, of Youngstown was charged with misdemeanor theft, accused of shoplifting from the Sephora make-up counter in J.C. Penney.

Police said security stopped the women about 3:30 p.m. and when searched, Slipski was found to have 43 cosmetic items valued at $1,441 and a metal pipe with suspected marijuana residue; and Fizet had concealed 23 cosmetic items valued at $774.

A 20-year-old man was arrested at J.C. Penney about an hour later. Kenneth W. Sheely of Garrettsville is charged with misdemeanor theft, accused of taking a shirt valued at $34.

One of the shoplifting cases involved the store manager of Toba, a clothing store in the mall, chasing a woman suspected of shoplifting across the parking lot to a nearby restaurant, according to reports.

Mariah Renee Beaver, 21, of East Liverpool, is accused of shoplifting $125 in merchandise from Toba and was arrested at Chili’s restaurant about 2:10 p.m. Tuesday — only six hours after her court appearance on another shoplifting charge.

Police said Beaver had other clothing items in her bag that did not have receipts, but no other stores wanted to press charges. Beaver also is accused of shoplifting Sunday from Macy’s in Southern Park Mall and was arraigned on that charge at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. Court records indicate she pleaded in that case and was sentenced to probation and a payment agreement.
