POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships, Canfield and Austintown:
POLAND
Feb. 21
Theft: A Stewart Road woman reported $4,940 stolen from her home.
Theft: An East Lansing, Mich., woman reported the theft of her purse, $80 and other property while on Lowellville Road.
Feb. 22
Theft: A $500 snow plow was stolen in the 2800 block of Lee Lynn Court.
Identity theft: A Highland Avenue man found out his credit-card account had been compromised.
Identity theft: A North Carolina Place woman learned that her personal information had been used to make $950 worth of unauthorized charges to her credit-card account.
Feb. 24
Theft: Forty Oxycodone pills were stolen from a residence in the 2400 block of Manor Drive.
Burglary: Someone broke into Robert Kepp Contracting Inc., 4955 Center Road via the front door. Three firearms were missing.
Feb. 25
Criminal mischief: A driveway in the 2400 block of Edgewater Drive sustained damage.
BOARDMAN
Feb. 23
Burglary: Occurred in the 5000 block of Hopkins Road, where several rooms were ransacked. Jewelry and a knife were missing.
Domestic violence: Police picked up 22-year-old Darnell J. Williams, 181 E. Ravenwood Ave., Youngstown, on a felony domestic-violence charge after Williams’ pregnant girlfriend alleged he had pulled her to the ground and dragged her by the hair during an argument at a Market Street pregnancy center.
Fraud: A Hitchcock Road man reported having received about 20 calls claiming he won a $2 million lottery and requesting personal information.
Burglary: To a residence in the 400 block of Meadowbrook Avenue, possibly with a duplicate key. Stolen were $80, an iPod, a camera, a global-positioning-system device and prescription medications.
Aggravated menacing: A manager of a Boardman-Poland Road shoe store told police a disgruntled former employee threatened to kill him and two other workers.
Theft: A dealer license-plate was missing from a vehicle in the 5800 block of Market Street.
Identity theft: A Maple Drive woman discovered her Social Security number was used without her consent regarding her income taxes.
Breaking and entering: Someone used a chair to break a window and enter Panache, a hair salon at 7301 West Blvd., then take an undisclosed sum of money.
Attempted breaking and entering: A large rock was used in an effort to break a window and enter Bella Sole spa, 945 Boardman-Canfield Road, though no entry was made.
Feb. 24
Recovered property: Youngstown police found a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer destroyed by fire after it had been stolen in the 1200 block of Doral Drive.
Breaking and entering: Someone entered a vacant residence in the 5000 block of Friendship Avenue via a rear door.
Theft: A man reported an eyeglasses case containing a house key stolen while at a Boardman-Canfield Road business.
Criminal damaging: A food item was used to break a window at a home in the 80 block of Gertrude Avenue.
Domestic violence: Steven J. Mober Jr., 20, of 125 Ninth St., Niles, was charged with the crime after a woman alleged Mober had pushed and punched her chest at the Shops at Boardman Park.
Assault: Police charged 37-year-old Jermelle M. Denson, 4100 Hillman Way, Boardman, with simple assault after a man alleged Denton had struck him three times in the head, once causing him to fall backward and strike a table at the residence. Denton also was wanted on a probation-violation charge.
Feb. 25
Theft: A $2,560, 65-inch plasma TV was stolen from HH Gregg, 441 Boardman-Poland Road.
Felonious assault: Officers responded to a possible fight at a Boardman-Canfield Road fast-food restaurant, where a manager reported a woman tried to hit her with a vehicle after the woman had argued with another manager.
Theft: A woman reported her wallet stolen at a Boardman-Poland Road eatery.
Criminal mischief: A vehicle in the 800 block of Cook Avenue was found with a smashed rear windshield. Damage came to $250.
Arrest: Officers responded to a criminal-mischief complaint on Bonnie Place, where they arrested David N. McComb, 39, of 7397 Bonnie Place. He was wanted on a probation-violation charge.
Feb. 26
Theft: A woman in her 20s stole a $600 sweeper from Target, 417 Boardman-Poland Road.
Theft: An Old Harbour Place man discovered $675 missing from his wallet.
Menacing: A Canfield man at a Wolosyn Circle residence reported getting a threatening call pertaining to a piece of artwork.
Theft: Christian A. Oliver, 18, of 92 Van Buren Ave., Campbell, was charged with stealing four men’s undergarments and a pair of cargo pants from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.
Theft: Linda D. Angelo, 59, of 2746 Wind Point Trail, Poland, was charged, accused of taking five electronic-phone cases from Walmart.
Burglary: Took place in the 100 block of Beechwood Drive, where copper piping was removed from the basement.
Theft: Campbell police handed to township authorities 35-year-old Anthony McCeachy, 686 McBride St., Youngstown, who faced a felony theft count after having been accused of stealing a $600 cellphone from Verizon Wireless, 439 Boardman-Poland Road. McCeachy also was wanted on misdemeanor warrants from Liberty and Hubbard.
Theft: Police took 21-year-old Mariah R. Beaver into custody on a theft charge. Beaver, of 719 Dewey Ave., East Liverpool, was accused of stealing $324 worth of women’s clothing from Macy’s in Southern Park Mall, then released on a summons.
Feb. 27
Bad check: An Angeline Drive man who replied to an online ad reported having received a $998 money order he knew was fraudulent.
Theft: A man in his 40s stole about $50 worth of merchandise from Dollar General, 271 Boardman-Canfield Road.
Theft: A woman noticed her wallet missing while at the Southern Park Mall.
Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A woman failed to return a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe vehicle to Sweeney Chevrolet, 8010 Market St.
Harassment: A Boardman- Canfield Road woman said she’s received continual unwanted text messages.
Theft: A man and a woman stole 21 items from Kohl’s 383 Boardman-Poland Road. The theft was estimated at just more than $1,000.
CANFIELD
Feb. 16
Threats: A report of threatening comments were made to a female student on a class web site at Canfield Middle School, 42 Wadsworth St.
Feb. 18
Criminal mischief: A vehicle was damaged at a home in the 400 block of Fairground Boulevard
Feb. 22
Drug paraphernalia: Police charged Brandon Zepernick, 18, of 28273 Buffalo Road, Kensington, with possession of drug paraphernalia, a socket with suspected marijuana residue.
Feb. 23
Disorderly conduct: Police charged Johnathan Schreiber, 51, of 7062 Youngstown-Salem Road, Canfield, with the crime.
Disorderly conduct: Police charged Eric Totten, 28, of 410 Fairground Blvd., Canfield, with the crime.
Feb. 24
Drug abuse: Police charged Joshua Grossman, 22, of Akron, with drug abuse of marijuana after his arrest in the city.
Drug abuse: Police charged Eric Gardenhight, 18, of North Canton, and three 17-year-old male juveniles, all of Canton, with drug abuse of marijuana and other drug-related charges after their arrest in the city.
AUSTINTOWN
Feb. 20
Burglary: A Nikon digital camera was taken from an apartment in the 900 block of Compass West.
Fraud: An unauthorized Western Union transfer was made at a home in the 1000 block of Moorefield Avenue.
Assault: An assault was reported at Club Privilege, 1743 S. Raccoon Road.
Disorderly conduct: Police charged Jennifer Thomas, 32, of 4843 Westchester Drive., Apt. 217, with the crime after her arrest at Bill’s Place, 4771 Mahoning Ave.
Theft: An Ohio license tag was stolen from an auto at Bill’s Place.
Telecommunications harassment: The crime was reported at a home in the 20 block of North Four Mile Run Road.
Feb. 21
Warrant: Police arrested Daniel Rosenberger, 21, of 300 Deer Trail Court, Niles, on a warrant for obstructing official business.
Feb. 22
Warrant: Police arrested Leon Reynolds, 38, of 4884 Westchester Drive, No. 7, on a warrant for theft.
Fraud: Charges were made to a checking account at Home Savings and Loan, 4259 Kirk Road.
Menacing: Students were involved in menacing at Austintown Fitch High School and an apartment in the 4000 block of Westchester Drive.
Theft: A back trailer band was cut and Hewlett-Packard processors were stolen from the trailer at Pilot Oil, 1150 N. Canfield-Niles Road.
Identity theft: A Facebook account was opened in the victim’s name at a home in the 4000 block of Rita Avenue.
Telecommunications harassment: A victim was being harassed at a home in the 3000 block of Meander Reserve Circle.
Warrant: Police arrested Steven Risner, 35, of 4601 Deer Creek Court, Apt. 11, on a warrant out of Pike County for disorderly conduct.
Telecommunications harassment: A woman received unwanted calls on her cellphone at a home in the 3000 block of Frederick Street.
Feb. 23
Theft: Police charged Jasmine Harrison, 20, of 1619 Florence Ave., Apt. 1, and Danielle Douglas, 22, of 1519 Florence Ave., Youngstown, for theft of $96.96 in clothing at Kmart, 4475 Mahoning Ave.
Theft: A rear license-plate was stolen from an auto parked in the 1000 block of Paisley Street.
Theft: A cellphone was stolen at Phoenix House, 850 N. Meridian Road.
Feb. 24
Burglary: A woman’s wallet was taken at an apartment at Phoenix House.
Abandoned vehicle: A 2000 Chevrolet Impala was abandoned at Red Hot, 4777 Mahoning Ave.
Theft: Jewelry was taken at Green Haven Memorial Gardens, 3495 S. Canfield-Niles Road.
Fraud: Unauthorized charges were made to an account at a home in the 1000 block of Maplecrest Drive.
Theft: Medication was taken from a home in the 1000 block of Woodland Trace.
Burglary: A Wii gaming system was taken from a home in the 4000 block of Selkirk Road.
Breaking and entering: A fenced-in lot was entered by a male and a female at American Auto, 89 Maple Ave.
Theft: An iPhone was taken at Austintown Fitch High School, 4560 Falcon Drive.
Feb. 25
Theft: A diamond ring was taken from a home in the 1000 block of Woodland Trace.
Menacing: A suspect is accused of menacing at a home in the 1000 block of Woodland Trace.
Fraud: Unauthorized charges of $719.90 were made at a home in the 300 block of Whispering Pines.
Breaking and entering: A female entered a garage and stole money from a car parked inside at a home in the 400 block of Forest Hill Drive.
Burglary: A Wii gaming system, phone and medication were taken from an apartment in the 1000 block of Compass West.
Drug offense: Police issued a summons to Brian Bees, 24, of 496 S. Raccoon Road, for possession of drug-abuse instruments.
Drug offense: Police charged William Jennings Jr., 48, of 531 Mistletoe Ave., Youngstown, with trafficking cocaine and drug abuse of marijuana and Sherry Smith, 50, of Pittsburgh, with drug abuse of cocaine and possession of marijuana after their arrest at the Comfort Inn, 5425 Clarkins Drive.
Feb. 26
Criminal damaging: A vehicle was damaged in the parking lot of hotels at 1051 N. Canfield-Niles Road.
Warrant: Police issued an arrest warrant for Jannell Bankston, 29,of 440 S. Raccoon Road, for failure to appear on a traffic charge.
Lost or stolen wallet: A wallet was reported missing or stolen from the Shell Gas Station, 1704 S. Raccoon Road.
