Kevin Harris of Warren gets 7 years-plus in Ponzi scheme

CLEVELAND

Federal Judge Lesley Wells spent 30 minutes reading from letters written by 408 investors, who were scammed by Kevin Harris of Warren.

They frequently mentioned the pain, depression and embarrassment they felt as part of a $20 million Ponzi scheme that Harris and his associates pulled off from 2006 to 2008.

Harris, 47, and his lawyer asked Judge Wells to consider that Harris didn’t act alone.

At the end of the hearing in federal court this morning, Judge Wells sentenced Harris to seven years, three months in federal prison and ordered him to begin the sentence immediately.
