Toyota, Creekside lead Class B series

Colin McKee tossed a three-hitter with six strikeouts and two walks to lead fourth-seeded Toyota of Warren to a 2-1 victory over Kuboff & Associates in Friday’s opening round of the Class B playoffs at Cene Park.

Edmond Pilolli had two hits, including a double, and scored a run for Toyota in the best-of-three series.

Tyler Slepski and Cody Pitzo each had a hit and an RBI while Ryan Brumbaugh added a hit and scored a run.

Mitchell Lake hit a double and scored a run while Sean Coyne had the lone RBI for Kuboff, the fifth seed. Matt Gordon went the distance, giving up two runs on six hits with two strikeouts and no walks.

The teams play again at 8 p.m. today on Cene 2.

No. 3 Creekside 4, No. 6 Livi Steel 3

Creekside Fitness scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to rally for a 1-0 lead in the series.

Brandon Ritchie pitched 21/3 shutout innings in relief to pick up the victory for Creekside.

Kevin Arnold went the distance for Livi, but suffered the loss. Arnold gave up four runs (two earned) on eight hits, while striking out eight and walking one.

Joe Killian helped lead Creekside with two hits, two RBI and a run. Dan Ferguson hit a double, drove home two runs and scored another while Zarley Zolenski had two hits and a run.

Cory Hickman and Justin McGinnis each added a hit and a run for Creekside. Austin Beil hit a three-run double to account for all of the team’s RBIs.

Ty Wiery and Joe Wilaj each had a hit and scored a run while Jake Foster scored the other run for Livi. Mike Montalbano and Anthony Lariccia each had two hits. Montalbano’s two hits were both triples.

The teams play again tonight at 8 on Cene 1.
