Police to discuss heroin ring bust at noon

YOUNGSTOWN — Federal and local law enforcement officers will discuss a heroin distribution ring based out of Chicago and working through Youngstown within the hour.

A noon press conference will take place in city council chambers to discuss police efforts to bust the drug ring.

Officials are likely to discuss a list of “John Doe” indictments handed down by the Mahoning County grand jury earlier this week.

There were two dozen names in the secret indictment listing alleged crimes such as trafficking in heroin, trafficking in cocaine, engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity and possession of criminal tools.
