Canfield swim team falls to Firestone team

Four members of the Canfield Swim Club won three events each, but it wasn’t enough, as the squad lost 297-202 to the Firestone Area Swim Team (FAST) during a swim meet on June 20.

Jillian Baker, who competed in 11-12 girls events, won the freestyle, butterfly and free relay. Cullen Brady (11-12 boys) won the 50 backstroke, butterfly and free relay.

Daniel Bogen (15-18 boys) earned first place in the medley relay, freestyle and free relay, while Connor Brady (15-18 boys) earned first in the medley relay, 50 backstroke and butterfly. Double first-place winners for Canfield were Drew Bennett (15-18 boys, medley relay and breaststroke), Nicky Montalto (15-18 boys, medley relay and free relay), Gina Launders (11-12 girls, back and free relay), Mackenzie Hammond (11-12 girls, breaststroke and free relay), and Matthew Bogen (13-14 boys, breaststroke and free relay).

Other first place winners were the 8 and under girls medley relay team of Madison Cleevely, Daphne Cannon, Alyson Gonda and Natalie Reese; the 9-10 boys free relay team of Sirin Nalluri, Danny Lyons, Santino Marucci and Mickey Velasquez; the 8 and under freestyle (Madison Murphy and Luke Dietze); Sarah Heaven (15-18 girls, 50 back); Evan Skripac (11-12 boys, breaststroke); Mallory Allen (15-18 girls, butterfly); Lexi Saunders (11-12 girls, free relay); and Kyle Anderson (15-18 boys, free relay).

This year’s team is coached by Michael Barringer and his assistants, Emily King and Brian Worhatch.
