Car fire burns house

YOUNGSTOWN

A fire that started in a car parked at 411 W. Myrtle Ave. spread to the house there, the Youngstown Fire Department says.

The car engine caught fire, and the flames spread to the vinyl-sided house four feet away. They raced up the side of the house and caught the roof, the department said.

The tenant there told the department she had just parked her car and gone into the house, and when she looked outside she saw the fire.

She said her car seemed fine, but she had recently had some work done on it, the fire department said.

There were no injuries.

The department set damage estimates at $10,000 for the house to replace the roof and $5,000 for the car.
