The Columbiana Chamber of Commerce’s Business Development Committee is hosting a networking breakfast at the Dutch Haus Restaurant in Columbiana at 7:30 a.m. Friday.

The speaker is Todd Alexander, president-elect of the East Liverpool Chamber of Commerce. Alexander is the vice president and director of information technology at Newbold Technologies in East Liverpool.

Alexander will present a comparison of three communities in mid-Pennsylvania and how each has been affected by the development of shale oil and gas. The presentation will help the public understand and possibly anticipate the future with the advancement of the shale industry.

Bar association elects new president

Shirley J. Christian, an attorney with Harrington, Hoppe & Mitchell, has been elected president of the Mahoning County Bar Association.

She is the second woman to be elected to this position and began her one-year term Monday at the association’s annual election banquet. Christian has practiced law in the Mahoning Valley for 26 years. Her primary practice areas are medical malpractice defense and employment and labor law.
