Fired Pa. cop accused in sex cases can leave home

PITTSBURGH (AP) — A fired Pittsburgh police officer who’s been confined to his home awaiting trial on charges he tried to coerce five women to have sex with him can leave his house — but only to find a job, attend religious service, and go to a doctor.

But an Allegheny County judge said today that Adam Skweres can only leave his home three times a week, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., over the next 30 days to accomplish those things.

Prosecutors opposed any release saying Skweres has threatened the victims. His defense attorneys argue Skweres isn’t a threat to the women or to run away from his pending cases.

Skweres has denied charges that he tried to extort sexual acts from the women in exchange for offering them, or their boyfriends, help with legal problems.
