Girard police charge 2 men with drug trafficking

GIRARD — Police arrested two men on assault and drug possession charges shortly after 2 p.m. Monday.

Police said Ryan Dieck, 21, of Rio Terra Street, Leavittsburg, and Scott Rockenfelder, 23, of U.S. Route 422, Southington, were pulled over after an officer behind them witnessed one of the men throw a firecracker at a passing cyclist.

After being stopped between Second Street and State Avenue, the driver and passenger had suspended licenses and more than 85 grams of suspected marijuana in their possession, according to police.

Dieck is charged with drug trafficking, and Rockenfelder is charged with assault and failure to comply with state fireworks laws.
