YOUNGSTOWN

Heidi M. Daniel, incoming director of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, will begin work here July 18, library officials said. She will succeed Carlton Sears, who will retire July 31 after 15 years as director. Daniel, of Sugar Land, Texas, has most recently been supervising 16 branches of the Houston Public Library.

Homicide charges

A teenager was shot and killed in the Gaston Park area of New Castle, Pa., the city’s police department reported. Marcus McCauley, 16, was shot in the head on Saturday, police said. They did not give a time of day.

Christopher Nixon, 23, is charged with homicide, robbery, theft, receiving stolen property and two counts of aggravated assault, police said. James Nixon, 18, is charged with conspiracy to commit homicide, conspiracy to commit robbery and conspiracy to commit theft.

Stormwater meeting planned for residents
