CRAFT SHOWS

The women of Central Park Apartments invite the public to join them for “Christmas in July,” a craft show to benefit the less fortunate in our community. The show will take place from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday on the lawn of the complex, at 155 E. State St. in Niles. Prices for handcrafted goods will range from 50 cents to $30. Money will be used to buy items one cannot purchase with food stamps, such as soaps, paper supplies and personal hygiene products. A rain date for the sale is July 8.

Poland Art and Craft Show will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday on the green of Poland Village. Vendors are welcome. A registration fee of $30 will include a 15-by-10-foot space. For information call 330-757-4584.

DANCES

Parents Without Partners Portage County Chapter 600 will have its monthly dance from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. July 6 at the Ritchie Memorial Shelter House, 109 W. Ave., Tallmadge. FESTIVALS/FAIRS

Paradise United Church of Christ, 10020 New Buffalo Road, Canfield, will have a lawn festival from 4 to 7 p.m. July 21 at the church. The event will include food, a raffle, a basket auction, country store, bake sale, games and a 3:30 concert by God’s Quad. The festival will occur rain or shine.

SALES

Lord of Life Lutheran Church will have a trash and treasure sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church, at 550 N. Broad St., Canfield. Items will be half price Saturday. There will also be a bake sale. Call Ellie Williford at 330-533-3531 for information.

Seraphim Chorus will have a yard and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at 114 Route 224, Poland. Proceeds will support the chorus and its efforts to bring quality choral music to the Mahoning Valley. For information call 330-707-2144.

Sts. Peter and Paul Jr. UOL will sponsor a trunk-sale fundraiser for the church’s youth group from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 21 at the Orthodox Center parking lot at 1025 N. Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown. Participants can load up their trunks and sell items from the backs of their vehicles. Cars, trucks and vans will be assigned one spot for $10, and RVs and campers will be assigned two spots for $15. Reserve a spot by filling out a registration form and submitting payment. Ursuline Center, 4300 Shields Road, Canfield, will host a Car Trunk & Treasure Sale at 9 a.m. July 14. There also will be food and beverages, a book sale, baked goods and furniture inside the center. The cost for side-by-side spaces in the parking lot is $25; after Saturday the fee will increase to $30. All spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis. SPECIAL EVENTS

The fourth annual Austintown Wickliffe Block Watch Block Party will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Wickliffe Christian Church, 3939 Potomac Ave. Featured will be the second annual hot-dog-eating contest. Three age groups will compete for cash prizes and trophies: 8 to 12, 13 to 16 and 17 and up. The contest is open to all Austintown residents; preregistration required. The day’s schedule includes a demonstration by Austintown Police Department of its new police dog at noon, the hot-dog-eating contests at 12:30, 1 and 1:30 p.m., a puppet show, a basket auction drawing at 3 and a water balloon fight at 3:30. TRIPS

Boardman Rotary Relay for Life Team is sponsoring a bus trip to Rivers Casino on July 21. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. The cost of the trip is $30 and includes $15 in free play plus a food voucher. The bus will leave from the rear of St. Nicholas Hall in Struthers at 11 am. and return at 7 p.m. Make checks payable to Boardman Rotary Relay for Life Team and mail to Jeff Janci, 3170 Highland Ave., Poland OH 44514. Jewish Community Center of Youngstown is planning a bus trip to Cleveland July 22 to see the musical “Mamma Mia” at the State Theater. The price of $65 for members and $75 for nonmembers includes transportation and an orchestra seat. The bus will depart from the JCC, 505 Gypsy Lane, Youngstown, at 2:30 p.m. and return at 10:30.
