Man charged with assault for beating over dog bite

YOUNGSTOWN — Delvin Williams is in Mahoning County jail charged with felonious assault for allegedly beating a man who called the police on Williams’ dog after the dog bit the man.

According to police reports, officers were sent to the 300 block of West Evergreen Avenue on Friday afternoon in reference to a man bitten by a loose pit bull. The man told police he was walking down the street and the dog attacked, biting him on the right leg.

The victim said he did not want to press charges on the owner of the dog, but would like to request that the owner keep the dog tied up so no children in the area are hurt.
