Liberty voters to see a 1.25-mill road levy in November

LIBERTY — Township trustees will place a 1.25-mill road levy on the November ballot.

The board decided today on a five-year levy that would bring in $268,000 per year, and cost a person with a $100,000 home $38.28 annually, said fiscal officer John Fusco.

The proposal will appear alongside a .45-mill levy trustees approved in April for the fall ballot. That levy is designed to offset the cost of transferring the township’s 911 dispatch center to the Trumbull County 911 Center in Howland, township officials said.

If the township would have kept the dispatching operation in Liberty, residents would have had to pass a 1.2-mill levy instead of a .45-mill levy, Trustee Jason Rubin said. The .45 mill levy is also for five years and will bring in $96,000 per year. It will cost someone with a $100,000 home and additional $13.78 annually.
