Eight Warren massage parlors surrender license
Warren
Eight massage parlors in the city have agreed to surrender their operating licenses.
The agreement was reached this morning between the city and the parlors without having a scheduled court hearing.
Under the agreement the parlors also agreed to remove their identifying signs and not reapply for a license for at least one year.
The parlor operators will be allowed to remove their belongings and their landlords will be allowed to rent the premises to other occupants.
The eight parlors were closed after a May 30 raid that followed a year-long investigation that Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine said uncovered prostitution.
The agreement was reached in out of court negotiations this morning that eliminated the need for a formal court hearing on the city’s nuisance abatement complaint. Had it been held, the hearing would have been before Trumbull county common pleas court Judge W. Wyatt McKay.
“I don’t want empty buildings. I want tax paying tenants,” said city Law director Greg Hicks, referring to the premises the parlors occupied.
