Austintown Eagle Award

Joshua Reid, the son of Jerry and Mary Reid of Austintown, has earned his Eagle Scout Award. Reid, who graduated in June from Austintown Fitch High School, has been involved in scouting for eight years at Austintown Community Church with Troop 84. Scoutmaster was Tom Eft.

His Eagle Scout service project was installing shelves in the Austin Log Cabin’s basement and identifying more than 50 items that had been donated over many years. He researched each item, tagged them and gave a brief history of how it was useful. Most of the items were used outdoors in farming.

DOCTORS

Residency set at CWRU

Jonathan Buckley Glaab recently graduated from the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine. He also received a degree in biology from John Carroll University, summa cum laude, and was a 2004 graduate of Ursuline High School.

He is scheduled to begin his residency program at Case Western Reserve University Hospitals in general surgery.

Dr. Glaab is the grandson of Dr. and Mrs. John J. Buckley of Liberty, Peter and Judy Glaab of New Boston, Mich., and great grandson of Judge John J. and Rosalie Buckley. His parents are Colleen (Buckley) and Timothy Glaab.

Struthers grad is doctor

Ashleigh Lynn Glass graduated June 3 from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pa.

Dr. Glass is a 2000 graduate of Struthers High School and received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biology in 2004 and 2007, respectively, from Youngstown State University.

Dr. Glass lives in Copley and will enter her residency in internal medicine at Akron General Hospital.

She is the daughter of David and Susan Glass of Columbiana.

DOCTORATE

Ministry degree awarded

Linda Lucarell Miller of Youngstown, an Ursuline High School teacher, recently received her doctor of ministry degree from St. Mary’s Seminary in Cleveland.

Miller completed a master of religious education degree from Loyola University New Orleans and a bachelor’s degree in education from Youngstown State University. She has been a teacher and catechist in the Diocese of Youngstown, receiving the Golden Apple Award in 2004.

She was a recipient of the Dr. Robert Coles Spritual Growth Institute scholarship at Boston College. Miller was a Triwizard Teacher with a project linking Jewish and Arab students from Akko, Israel, to students of Ursuline High School in 2008 and 2009. She has been a member of the planning board for First Friday Youngstown, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Planning Board, and a member of the Diocesan Council for Catechesis. She is a member of St. Christine Parish and former teacher at St. Christine School.

Dr. Miller is the daughter of Dom and Gini Lucarell of Youngstown. She is married to Gary L. Miller. The couple has two grown children, Jonathan Miller and Stephanie Miller, both of Columbus, Ohio.

She currently teaches religion at Ursuline and is the liturgy coordinator there.

Doctor of pharmacology

Whitney Cleghorn, daughter of Bill and Judy Arnaut and Tom and Pam Cleghorn, all of Canfield, has received her doctor of pharmacology degree from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tenn.

Dr. Cleghorn graduated from Canfield High School and received her bachelor’s degree in molecular genetics from Ohio State University in 2005 and was awarded a full scholarship to Vanderbilt.

She was awarded the fellowship to the University of Washington in Seattle and will begin her postdoctoral program in biochemistry in July.

Physics degree awarded

Colin Campbell, formerly of Canfield, received his Ph.D. in physics this spring at Pennsylvania State University. A 2003 graduate of Canfield High School, he received a bachelor of science in physics from Westminster College in 2007, magna cum laude.

During his time as a graduate student he worked as both a teaching and research assistant for the Department of Physics, and taught introductory physics in 2010 and 2011. His dissertation focused on complex systems in the field of biological physics. He is currently working as a postdoctoral researcher in Penn State’s biology department.

Dr. Campbell lives in State College, Pa., with his wife, the former Louise Popio, also a 2003 Canfield graduate, and their daughter, Elise. He is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Tom and Rose Campbell of Bluffton, S.C., formerly of Canfield.

Clinical psychology degree

Michelle L. Constantino, 2003 graduate of Struthers High School, received her doctorate degree in clinical psychology at Argosy University, Chicago.

Dr. Constantino earned her undergraduate degree at Loyola University, Chicago, and will enter her residency at the Community Counseling Center in Hermitage, Pa.

She is the daughter of Art and Toni Constantino of Poland.
