5 awarded summer research fellowships

Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, awarded undergraduate summer research fellowships to five Shenango Valley students.

The students are:

Bryan Fleeson, of Wampum, is studying “VIZ: Creating and Assessing Games to Enhance Spatial Cognition.” The research is being supervised by Dawn Blasko.

Fleeson also is studying “The Electrophysiological Correlates of Metaphor Processing.” The research is being supervised by Victoria Kazmerski and Dawn Blasko.

Ali Ismail, of Sharon, is studying “PSPICE Modeling and Simulation of Pulse-Width Modulated and Resonant DC-DC Power Converters.” The research is being supervised by Dakshina Murthy Bellur.

Nicole Joseph, of Sharpsville, is studying “Molecular Identification of Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms Associated with Genetic Predisposition for Diabetes.” The research is being supervised by Matthew Gruwell.

Kristan Russell, of Harrisville, is studying “The Electrophysiological Correlates of Metaphor Processing.” The research is being supervised by Victoria Kazmerski and Dawn Blasko.

Penn State Behrend awarded 39 grants — and more than $69,000 — to 62 students this summer. The college provides nearly $350,000 each year to support undergraduate research by its students.
