OVI checkpoint tonight in Austintown

AUSTINTOWN — The Ohio State Highway Patrol, in conjunction with the Mahoning County Sheriff's Office, Austintown Police Department and the Mahoning County Operating a Vehicle Impaired Task Force, will have an OVI checkpoint on state Route 46 at Silica Road in Austintown from 10 p.m. tonight to 2 a.m. Saturday.

The checkpoint, funded by federal grants, is planned to deter and intercept people driving after using alcohol and drugs.

Law enforcements urge people to designate a driver or make other arrangements if they plan on drinking this evening.
