Maldonado acquitted of all charges in YSU payroll scandal


YOUNGSTOWN — A visiting judge this morning acquitted Ivan Maldonado, a former Youngstown State University payroll assistant, of all counts in the university payroll scandal case.

Judge Thomas Pokorny acquitted Maldonado, 44, of Euclid Boulevard, Boardman, of two counts of falsification and one count each of grand theft, records tampering, theft in office and theft.

The judge rendered his verdict after a nonjury trial in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court. Maldonado is a former president of the Association of Classified Employees labor union at YSU.
