Boardman Community Fund awards scholarship

The Boardman Community Fund is one of the many foundations involved in the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley which awards scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,500 to area high school and college students.

A total of $14,000 was distributed from six separate component funds established at the Community Foundation, as well as a fund established by a foundation donor administered through the Youngstown State University Foundation. This year, The Boardman Community Fund (BCF) provided two students, Connor Hetzel and Evan Heintz, with a $2,500 scholarship each in recognition of outstanding achievement and commitment to their community of Boardman Township.

“The BCF Board of Directors were pleased to present the two scholarships to these two deserving young men,” said BCF Board President Deborah Liptak. “The scholarship committee was impressed with the accomplishments of the students who applied and with the exceptional essays that were written. The essays truly captured the meaning of ‘Boardman Being a Great Place to Call Home.’ The BCF is especially grateful for the partnership with the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley on this program.”

Since its inception in 1999, the community foundation has provided grants in excess of $13.5 million to more than 300 charitable and educational institutions.
