CLEVELAND

A federal judge has sent a 29-year-old Niles man to prison for 70 months and ordered him to make $3,978 in combined restitution to the two banks he pleaded guilty to robbing.

U.S. District Judge Dan Aaron Polster imposed the sentence Wednesday on Justin R. Bowman and told him he’ll be on supervised release for three years after he leaves prison.

Bowman had earlier pleaded guilty to robbing a U.S. Bank branch in Cleveland of $2,875 last Oct. 20 and to robbing a Key Bank branch in Akron of $1,103 last Oct. 31.

In May, Judge Polster sentenced Bowman’s accomplice in the Akron bank robbery, Nicole R. Matanin, 29, of Warren, to 27 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, after she pleaded guilty in that case.
