Those who live in the area of Venloe Drive to Manor Avenue in Poland Township are invited to an informational meeting about creating a neighborhood association at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Poland Presbyterian Church, 2 Poland Manor.

The meeting will be led by several residents who have expressed interest in forming a neighborhood association, said township Trustee Eric Ungaro.

Pizza-eating contest

Pizza Works of Warren, Howland and Hubbard will have a pizza-eating contest at noon July 4 at Howland High School, 200 Shaffer Drive, to benefit Northeast Ohio Adoption Services.

There is no cost to participate in the contest, which is open to the first 38 people who register. Obtain a registration form at all Pizza Works location or download it at www.mypizzaworks.com.

NOAS representatives will attend the contest to accept donations from spectators and participants.

New Castle shooting

The New Castle, Pa. Fire Department assisted at a shooting Wednesday night.

The department said a male was shot at 9 p.m. at a Chestnut Street residence.

He was alive when he was taken to Jameson Hospital, and the department said he was taken by helicopter to a trauma center.

There was no more information available.
