Grove City, Pa., school board keeps pre-meeting prayer
GROVE CITY, Pa. (AP) — The school board here has decided not to replace a pre-meeting spoken prayer with a moment of silence.
The Grove City School District has discussed changing the policy for about two months. The board needed six of nine members to approve the policy change.
Instead, on Monday, four board members voted to change the policy, three voted against it, and two abstained.
The area is home to the Grove City College, a conservative Christian school and several like-minded churches.
Several citizens praised the decision, including one who said, “It’s time for men to stand up and not be intimidated by ‘possible’ lawsuits.”
Board member Adam Renick says he voted to keep prayer to be an example to his children.
