Summer Adventures planned in park

Mill Creek MetropParks is planning Summer Adventures for July. The following camps are planned:

July 9 and 10: Tennis Camp will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Mondays and Tuesdays. Kids will learn the fundamentals of tennis. Registration and the fee are due by July 16. The camp takes place at Yellow Creek Park. Fee: $5 per resident, $8, nonresident.

July 11 and 12: Park Pals, for grades one through three, will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Learn about Mill Creek Park and the animals and plants that call it home. The days will be filled with hikes, crafts, games and other fun activities. Registration and fee are due at Ford Nature Center by July 2. Call 330-740-7107. Fee is $30 R, $35 NR.

July 18 and 19: Park Explorers, for grades four through six, is offered Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Learn about the plants and animals that live in Mill Creek Park, as well as some of the Park’s history through hikes, games, crafts and more. Registration and fee are due at Ford Nature Center by July 9. Call 330-740-7107. Fee is $30 R, $35 NR.

July 21: Batting Clinic is for ages 7 through 12 and 13 through 16, Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. and from 1 to 3 p.m. Led by volunteer assistant baseball coach of Youngstown State University Craig Antush, the class will focus on improving hitting mechanics. Includes batting cage practice and on-on-one coaching. Takes place at Wick Recreation area. Call Recreation at 330-740-7106 for registration and details. Registration and fees due by July 18. Fee is $15 R, $18 NR.

July 23 and 24: for grades K through three, fee $25, and July 26: grades four through six, fee $15. Ag Camp: Down on the Farm, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Celebrate Chinese New Year at the farm with hands-on activities, crafts, games, songs and movies. July 30 through Aug. 30: British Soccer Camp for ages 3 through 18. Players of all abilities will receive high-level soccer coaching from a team of international experts. Each day includes individual foot skills, technical drills, tactical practices, small-sided games, coached scrimmages and a daily tournament. The Challenger coaching staff provides your child with lessons in respect, responsibility, integrity, sportsmanship and leadership. At the Wick Recreation Area. Call 330-740-7100 for details.
