Kyriakos Theophanous, a senior at Boardman High School, has been awarded one of three 2012 $50,000 James W. McLamore WHOPPER Scholarships.

A Burger King employee since he was 16, Theophanous is active in his school and community as an Eagle Scout, music teacher and first violinist in the local chamber and symphony orchestras.

He maintains a 3.94 GPA and is slated to attend the University of Pittsburgh this fall to study biomedical engineering.

The BK Scholars program awarded 107 students from Ohio $1,000 scholarships in recognition of outstanding academic achievement and community involvement accomplishments.

This is the second consecutive year that four major awards were given, including the three WHOPPER scholarships and one $25,000 King Award.
