The Rotary Club of Salem, the Salem Public Library, St. Paul’s School students and the SCH Charitable Foundation have teamed up to provide a more comforting, healing environment for area residents receiving cancer treatment at Salem Community Hospital. The Salem Rotary Cares Project will provide entertainment for patients as they undergo chemotherapy treatments, which last several hours and may have unpleasant side effects. As a result of the project, patients can now watch movies and listen to music or audio books to keep their minds off the treatments. Contributions are welcome. For information call the SCH Charitable Foundation at 330-337-2883. On hand for the Salem Rotary Cares Project donation to Salem Community Hospital were (seated, left to right) LuAnn Haddad, SCH vice president of institutional advancement; Wavelene Arnold, SCH employee; and Dr. Zoraida Mendez, SCH medical director of oncology; and (standing, left to right) Matt Butts, president of Salem Rotary Club; Brad Stephens, executive director of the Salem Public Library; Dr. Peter Apicella, SCH director of medical imaging; and Steve Ruwoldt, SCH president and CEO.
