Juan Romero connected for his third home run of the young season but the Mahoning Valley Scrappers couldn’t overcome three errors in a 3-1 loss to the Jamestown Jammers on Tuesday night at Russell Diethrick Park.
Jake Sisco started and allowed two earned runs in 32/3 innings to get the loss for the Scrappers (1-1), who scored their lone run on Romero’s homer in the third inning.
Sisco worked out of trouble in each of the first three innings, but was unable to escape again in the fourth. Kentrell DeWitt doubled to start the inning and Brice Dice followed with a single, sending DeWitt to third. Sharif Othman’s single scored DeWitt and Dice scored on a RBI groundout by Yefri Perez.
Mitch Nilsson and Aaron Siliga singled for Mahoning Valley, which managed just three hits against four Jammer pitchers.
Rafael Homblert gave up one run in 11/3 innings of relief, while Nicholas Pasquale pitched two innings of one-hit relief and Estevenson Encarnacion added pitched a scoreless eighth inning.
The Scrappers open a two-game series tonight against the Jammers tonight in the home opener at Eastwood Field.
