Laying of the Roses ceremony is Sunday in Austintown


AUSTINTOWN — The Mahoning Valley Korean War Veterans Chapter 137 will conduct a “Laying of the Roses” memorial service Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Korean War Veterans Memorial on South Wycliffe Circle in the 4000 Block of Mahoning Avenue.

The names of 122 servicemen killed in action engraved on the memorial will be read and a single toll of the bell and a single rose placed at the memorial in their remembrance. The service also includes an address about the war; presentation of the Colors by an Honor Guard, a rifle salute, and a prayer by the Chaplain.

Family members of deceased veterans, active military personnel, prior servicemen and their families and the general public are invited to attend.
