Ex-Rutgers student in webcam case leaves jail

NORTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) — A former Rutgers student convicted of bias intimidation for using a webcam to see his roommate kiss another man has been released from jail after serving 20 days of a 30-day sentence. Twenty-year-old Dharun Ravi volunteered to start his sentence even though he could have remained free while the case is appealed. He was convicted earlier this year of 15 criminal counts in a case that got widespread attention in September 2010 when roommate Tyler Clementi committed suicide days after the webcam spying.
