Angels of Easter Seals installs Zarlenga

Angels of Easter Seals recently installed Joan Zarlenga as 2012-2013 president.
As a founding member of Angels, Zarlenga has served in each office, chairing the Annual Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show, The Holiday Brunch and the Magic of an Angels Christmas. She also served as president in 1982-1983.
Zarlenga sits on the board of trustees of Easter Seals, serving on the audit and governance committee. She served as the 24th president of Easter Seals. In addition, she serves on the ad hoc committee that merged Easter Seals and the Youngstown Hearing and Speech Center.
She is a full-time Realtor with Burgan Real estate, a member of the National Association Realtors, Ohio Association of Realtors and Youngstown Columbiana Association of Realtors. She is a director of Youngstown/Columbiana Board of Realtors and served as its president in 2011.
A recipient of the YWCA woman of the year in human and social services, Zarlenga also is a two-time Athena nominee and a graduate of Leadership Mahoning Valley.
She lives in Canfield with her husband, Lou. They have three children and four grandchildren and belong to St. Michael Church and Tippecanoe Country Club.
Other Angels of Easter Seals officers this year are Kathy Carroll, first vice president; Lynn Sahli, second vice president; Shelly LaBerto, treasurer; Bethann Zoldan, corresponding secretary; and Joyce Dowell, recording secretary.
The Angels began some 35 years ago, and since then, they have provided more than $2 million to Easter Seals and have helped countless people with disabilities and special needs. This year the Angels have donated $120,000 to Easter Seals.
