Participants sought for 4-H Day Camp and Junior Camp

On July 2, the Mahoning County 4-H program will have its annual 4-H Day Camp at 4-H Camp Whitewood in Ashtabula County.

The day camp is open to any child between the age of 5 and 8. The child must have completed kindergarten. Children do not need to be 4-H members to attend.

A chartered bus will take youths and adult chaperones to the camp. The fee is $30 and includes the bus ride, swimming, crafts, lunch, and other activities.

Day campers will be supervised by trained counselors and permanent camp staff. Registration and full payment is due by June 29. Camp will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

The county 4-H program will have its annual 4-H Junior Camp from July 15-21, also at 4-H Camp Whitewood.

The theme of junior camp is “Every Day’s a Holiday at Camp Whitewood.” It is open to all children between 8 and 14. You do not need to be a 4-H member to attend.

For more than 50 years, 4-H Camp Whitewood has provided the finest in camping activities which include swimming, boating, crafts, archery, riflery, recreation, campfires, and other special activities, officials say.

A fee of $250 includes a week of meals, lodging, program supplies, crafts, instructors, camp T-shirt and photo. Registration and $75 deposit is due by June 29.
