Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 646 Lakewood Ave., will host a Christian-education music workshop next weekend. The registration deadline is Sunday; call 330-743-5084 or fax to 330-743-0559. Fee is $15.
A session is planned from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday with registrastion at 5:30. The workshop will continue from 10 a.m. to noon next Saturday with registration at 9:30.
A continental breakfast and materials are included.
Pastor Kenny Eldridge, founder of Fellowship Tabernacle Christian Center, will conduct the workshop. A musician, producer and recording artist, Pastor Eldridge has been nominated for Stellar and Dove awards.
The workshop will focus on music manners at rehearsals and presentation, professionalism relating to what is sung and played and ministry, who is impacted.
Elder Rose Carter is Christian education director, and the Rev. James Bowie, pastor.

Bishop George V. Murry will celebrate Mass at the Cathedral of St. Columba, 154 W. Wood St., at 12:10 p.m. Thursday followed by an information forum on religious freedom in St. Columba Parish Hall.
Forum presenters from Catholic Charities and the diocesan Office of Pro-Life, Marriage and Family Life will offer historical perspective and ideas for parish action and public advocacy.
Following the publication of the document, “Our First, Most Cherished Freedom,” outlining threats to religious freedom both at home and abroad, the Catholic bishops of the United States have called for a “Fortnight for Freedom,” a 14-day period of prayer, education and action in support of religious freedom.
The observance will be from Thursday through July 4, (the vigil of the feasts of St. Thomas More and St. John Fisher and Independence Day). The website is Fortnight4Freedom.org.

The Feast Day of St. John the Baptist, which is celebrated in many countries, will be observed by St. Patrick Church, 1420 Oak Hill St., at 11:30 a.m. June 24.
At the outdoor prayer service, broken, worn and outdated sacramentals will be burned.
The event will include entertainment by the band, Conjunto Riquena, and refreshments.

Theology on Tap, Mahoning County Chapter, will meet from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at MRV Italian Restaurant and Bar, 410 N. Walnut St.
The group is geared to young adults from 18 to 39 years old.
