YOUNGSTOWN

North Side Pool, the only public pool in the city, is open and averaging about 50 visitors a day.

The pool on Belmont Avenue opened Wednesday.

It will be open seven days a week from 1 to 8 p.m. until Aug. 8.

“The opening went well, and we’re doing average [attendance] for this time of the year,” said Robert Burke, the city’s park and recreation director. “We’ve got plenty of lifeguards, and there’s security at the pool area.”

The admission cost is $1.50 for adults and $1 for children.

Also, the city began its summer day-camp program Wednesday at six parks: Wick, Crandall, John White, MVSD, Homestead and Lynn.

The program operates weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The program ends Aug. 8.
