Niles student will compete nationally

NILES

Stephanie Yasechko, a high school student from Niles, will compete in a national scholarship competition this month.

Yasechko currently has the title of Distinguished Young Woman of Ohio but will travel Sunday to Mobile, Ala., to compete in the national finals.

After two weeks of volunteer work and community service projects, she will compete against other state representatives during the three-day scholarship competition that starts June 28.

The overall winner of the national finals will receive a cash scholarship and represent Distinguished Young Women through various appearances across the country.

Distinguished Young Women is the largest and oldest scholarship program in the country for high school girls. The program awards $130,000 in cash scholarships to young women annually.
