Closing arguments by prosecuting and defense lawyers will be at 9 a.m. Monday in the trial of two teens charged with murder.

Deandre M. McCrary, 16, of West Woodland Avenue, and Rayshawn Royal, 17, of Cohasset Drive, are charged with aggravated murder and aggravated robbery with firearm specifications in the June 19, 2011, shooting death of Brandon Adkins, 16, of East Philadelphia Avenue, on the city’s South Side.

Judge Maureen A. Sweeney of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court will then instruct the jury before it begins deliberating on a verdict.

In another common- pleas court matter, opening statements in the criminal-bench trial of Ivan Maldonado in the Youngstown State University payroll scandal will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday before visiting Judge Thomas Pokorny.

Maldonado, 44, of Euclid Boulevard, a former university payroll assistant and former president of the Association of Classified Employees union at YSU, is charged with 10 counts of theft, two counts each of falsification and theft in office and one count each of tampering with records and grand theft.
