Boardman Glenwood Middle School eighth-grade students made sure they spent one of their last days in school having fun during the school’s cookout May 25.
“It’s a celebration for the eighth-graders before they go to the high school,” said PTA member Anna Joerndt.
Students played relay games, danced and even got to dunk some of their teachers in water as part of the celebration.
There was a group tug of war competition, which tested the strength of classmates. The school yard was filled with footballs, jump ropes and screaming students who were all just excited to be able to let loose.
“We’ve worked really hard all year so I think we should have the privilege to have most of the day to have fun,” said eight-grade student Jennafer Milanonski.
PTA members took part in the festivities as well and were just as excited to enjoy the day as students.
“They’re having a great time. It’s the best day of the year,” Joerdnt said.
The event was a success and gave students the opportunity to come together for the last time as eighth-grade students.
“It’s all about the kids and we want them to appreciate what they’ve gotten over the years here.”
