Boardman police have closed the case of a missing township woman who was found unharmed in Texas.

Elizabeth A. Cassidy, 47, of Wildwood Drive, was last seen May 22 by a tow-truck driver who gave her a ride to the Pilot truck plaza in North Lima after her car broke down at state Routes 164 and 165, according to police reports.

Cassidy was expected to return to Ohio on Thursday, police said.

Contract awarded

YOUNGSTOWN

Mahoning County commissioners have awarded a $15,840 contract to All Excavating Inc. of Boardman, for demolition of a large, vacant duplex in deteriorated condition at 180 to 190 Kendall St. in Campbell.

The demolition is being paid for by the federal Neighborhood Stabilization Program, for which funding ends March 1, 2013, in a government austerity effort.

The commissioners also voted Thursday to advertise for bids for demolition of two single-family homes, one each in Struthers and Smith Township, under the same program.

Keep America Beautiful work day will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, rain or shine. Volunteers are to meet at the Youngstown Playhouse off Glenwood Avenue.

Join Youngstown Litter Control and Recycling, the playhouse, Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp., Idora Neighborhood Association, Tabernacle Evangelical Presbyterian Church and other groups to clean up a vacant lot next to the playhouse to develop a pocket park.

OH WOW! and Youngstown State University’s College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics want information on STEM- related events in Mahoning, Trumbull, Columbiana, Mercer and Lawrence counties.

The organizations are compiling a list of the activities. Inclusion on the list is free and is a way to generate more awareness of STEM activities and opportunities happening in the region.

The yearlong calendar will be published in OH WOW’s book “Ready, Set, OH WOW!” that will be available in September. The listing will also be available and continually updated on OH WOW’s website, www.ohwowkids.org and YSU College of STEM’s site, stem.ysu.edu.
